Ground-mounted solar for farms and businesses.

A paddock near the dairy shed, workshop or pump may make better use of the sun than a shaded or ageing roof. We start with where the power will go and what it costs to reach it.

Ground-mount feasibility

Three things to settle early.

We compare the ground option with a suitable roof and with leaving the site as it is. A long cable run or expensive foundation can change which option earns its keep.

One meter or three?

Mark the board and meter that actually supply each shed or pump. A panel beside one shed won’t automatically offset usage billed at a different connection. We check daytime demand, transformer capacity, network requirements and the value of any export.

What is under and around the rows?

A driven-pile frame and a concrete footing carry different site costs. Allow for ground investigation, slope, wind and snow loading, drainage, corrosion and any approvals. Stock protection, mowing access and spacing are part of the operating cost.

What is included in the installed price?

Ask for design and engineering, racking and foundations, freight, access, trench and reinstatement, electrical works, commissioning and aftercare to be itemised. On larger projects, agree who provides the civil and grid connections and where the package ends.

Ground works

Allow for the cable route.

Where will the array connect to the switchboard? Bring a site sketch showing the proposed rows, vehicle access and the route back to the building. We can look at trenching and cable distance alongside generation.

Have a site in mind?

Tell us the nearest town, where you use the most daytime power and how far the array might sit from the board. An approximate distance is fine for the first call.
